MISSION STATEMENT
Storytellers for Children is an active response to the growing interest in storytelling for children and youth and is committed to:

promoting storytelling for children & youth,

developing a national network for storytellers, families & communities.
WHO WE ARE
Storytellers for Children is a member-based association co-ordinated by volunteer executive directors: Carol Ashton, Joan Bailey, Donna Dudinsky, Sally Jaeger, April Nicolle, Hildy Stollery, Wendy Tinkler, and Harriet Xanthakos.
WHAT WE DO
-
co-host performances with public libraries, Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, The Bata Shoe Museum, historic settings, school boards, Frontier College, Riverdale Farm, provincial literacy networks, and other organizations

provide storytelling concerts for children and their families

create a national network for Canada’s “storytelling for children & youth” community of tellers

facilitate bi-annual adult storytelling SWAPS called “The TALKING POT” to discuss resources, strategies, voices & visions for our work with children & youth, as well as to grow from and encourage one another.

produce storytelling newsletters, bibliographies, thematic pamphlets, reviews of events and oral tradition resources.

present professional development workshops for E.C.E. seminars, parent-education networks, teachers, librarians, children’s literature scholars, storytellers, and others
